Server logs

When deployed, your hosting provider (e.g. Vercel) may record standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamps) for security and operations.

Ask this site assistant

If you use the Ask this site feature, your question (and a short conversation history you send in the same session) is transmitted to our server and then to OpenAI to generate an answer grounded in public content on this site. Do not submit passwords, secrets, or sensitive personal data.

Questions you submit are logged on the server (timestamp, question text, partial IP, browser type, and page referer) for debugging and improving the assistant. On production this appears in hosting runtime logs; locally, logs may also be written to site/data/logs/queries-*.jsonl.

OpenAI processes requests according to its own privacy policy and data retention terms. Conversation history is kept in your browser for the current session unless you clear it; the server receives only the short history included with each request.

The assistant uses a build-time index of site posts and pages (text chunks and embeddings). It is designed to answer from that content only and to cite source pages when possible.
